The Diva Plan: My Money!

The second most important thing in my diva plan is the one thing that allows me to live comfortably and plan for the future and that is MY MONEY!

I haven't always been the best money manager.  I've been up and down.  I've lived in financial bliss and I've also lived in near financial ruin.  If I were to put my finger on what caused the latter, I would have to honestly say it was a lack of consistent financial habits.  When pondering the blissful times, I realize I was very disciplined in those times.  The bottom line is, I now know that order works best for me when it comes to my money.  As a result, I've decided no matter what I'm going through or what's going on in the world, I'm going to stick to my personal financial plan.  Damn the recession!  If I stick with it, I'll be creating the blissful financial atmosphere I prefer.  Here is a snapshot of what I've come up with.
  • I will stick to my budget.
  • I will stick to my shopping list.
  • I will begin saving a set amount and I will not take it out of my savings.
  • I will open an account specifically to save for my child's future.
  • I will increase my 401K by 1% every year in January.
  • I will pay an additional $50 per month towards the principal on my mortgage.
  • I will continue to develop my entrepreneurial ideas.
    • My Financial Hierarchy
      1. Honor The Lord
      2. Pay Bills
      3. Save
      4. Enjoy
    • My Yearly Savings Plan
      1. December to March=Vacation
      2. April to July=School Supplies
      3. August to November=Christmas
Once again, your plan doesn't need to look like my plan.  For example, you may decide it is better for you to increase your retirement savings every other year; some of us may be able to save $500 a month while others may be able to save $20 a month.  My plan simply hits all of the financial points that are most important to me.  My plan also considers the things I would like to be able to do, as well as those times of the year that I know are financially draining for me.

Remember, no pressure, because once again for every woman who feels the need to have a diva plan, I'm right in the midst of trying to make this plan work for me also.  Smooches!
